The Magic Formula for Moms Who Feel Overwhelmed
If you ask most moms for a word that sums up their daily life… hands down, they’ll say “overwhelmed.”
It’s the latest fashion statement for emotions.
If you’re not an overwhelmed mom, something’s not right, right?
But how many of us moms would really like to fix that, and sum up our daily life with a more positive word like: fulfilled, evolving, vibrant, or happy?
All of us!
Do you know what happens when the feeling of overwhelm becomes the norm for everyday life?
Life starts to come apart at the seams. Not all at once, but a little here, and a little there.
Just like the old saying about the frog in the pot on the stove that doesn’t know it’s boiling to death, because the water temperature rose so slowly.
Well, that analogy fits an overwhelmed mom like a glove.
The slow road to overwhelm actually has a very sweet beginning…
Excitement over the news of expecting your first baby ignites a new flame in your life.
Motherhood heats up really quick on arrival day, and from there “overwhelm” is on the front burner of everyday life.
Balancing work, raising your family, keeping your marriage strong, and taking care of your own needs translates into one essential word.
Management.
Do you bristle when you hear that word?
I sure do!
Because it doesn’t sound like fun, and it usually doesn’t bring instant gratification. Besides, it sounds like a lot of work.
Management is the magic formula for reversing a lifestyle of feeling overwhelmed.
Motherhood and management become best friends, or bitter enemies.
Think about the things in your life right now that are suffering from a lack of management.
Now think of the things that are going well right now, and notice what the difference is.
Here’s the rub: If you don’t manage something… it will manage you.
Time, energy, money, head space, personal space, activities, habits, relationships… what happens when you don’t manage them?
You don’t realize it, but they begin to manage you.
And you don’t realize you’ve become the frog in the hot water, rather than the one managing the pot.
When you have a collection of things that manage you, the boiling water keeps you overwhelmed.
That’s when management is a mom’s bitter enemy.
So, how do you get out of the boiling water?
You jump out really fast.
Then, you start to manage whatever those things are that got you into the pot in the first place.
Check your list of things that are not going so well in your life right now and start there.
Reclaim your position as manager for each of those things.
There are tons of resources and support available online, in your community, and right here at Refreshing Mom, to help you learn new skills, make needed changes, and better manage each aspect of your life.

Moms don’t start out knowing how to keep all the plates in the air at once.
The skills are learned as you go, and you’ll get the hang of managing some things easier than others, but you’ll keep learning.
Then the weight of all the things that cause you to feel overwhelmed will lighten to a manageable load.
Before you know it, your daily life with be summed up with those positive words you’ve been looking for… more fulfilled, ever evolving, thriving and vibrant, and everyone in your family will be much happier!
